The Christmas story is an account of two births. Luke writes first of the miraculous birth of John the Baptist, and then of the birth of Jesus. Luke doesn’t place John the Baptist’s story first because it is more important. It is preparatory.  Elizabeth’s child would prepare the path for Mary’s Child. The lesser leads to the greater. Listen to the story of John and allow that to lead you to Jesus.
