When Jesus began His public ministry, He was keenly aware that, not only would He preach to great crowds, but He would handpick a group of select men whom He would give the title “apostles”. He would train them and to them, He would entrust the task of taking His gospel to the entire world.lic.
Even though Capernaum was not Jerusalem Jesus established himself there so that his preaching ministry would have the largest impact possible. The location was perfect
Satan’s temptations were designed to make Jesus into an evil messiah and evil king. AND if we carefully observe the temptations for what they are we may find they are our worst temptations as well.
The Spirit led Jesus into that place of solitude and prayer so that He might be tempted by the devil.
Jesus will take upon himself the role of a servant. He will stoop down and wash the feet of His disciples. He will say that the son of man came not to be served but to serve. In the end, He will be utterly humiliated as He is slandered, beaten, tortured and killed. His baptism is but the first symbol of His willingness to take the road of humility.
Jesus is right now building a church or raising up a people for himself. He has out of His mercy delayed the day of wrath so that He might extend the hour of mercy.
As Matthew puts it, in those days just before the Messiah, in the days just before the Great King was to step out on a public stage, preparations had to be made. But in this case, it is the everyday people themselves who had to prepare.
How did Jesus go from obscurity to the name which is above every other name? These 2 chapters of Matthew trace the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry.
All Bible believing Christians know that one man is coming who will be the fulfillment of what the Bible calls, the antichrist. But what will he look like? Is it possible to recognize the antichrist when he arises?
In the book of Revelation the great prostitute is the symbol of human civilization, sacrificing everything for money and power.
We are not to think about the events in Revelation as just telling us what’s going to happen. We are to make application. We are to read the book of Revelation as it relates to our lives today and learn what these words mean for our everyday practical lives
In the Bible Armageddon is not the extinction of all life on earth rather it depicts the last great battle. Secondly and interestingly enough it is the battle between the nations of the earth, against the returning Jesus Christ.
With the pouring out of the 7 bowls you will immediately see that even though there are similarities the bowls of God’s wrath are much more severe than what happens when the angels blow the trumpets.
What John wants to communicate is that when the 7 bowls are poured out this event is a sign of the coming final judgment.
The Bible often speaks of harvest as an image of the end of the age. Once the harvest is ripe God sends out his reapers.
The book of Revelation is filled with angels who do the bidding of God.
Here in chapter 14 , the voice from the throne sounds like harps and at the sound of his voice as we will see in verse 3, everyone begins to sing.
The tests for determining the truth from God is to see whether the prophet is speaking words that are in line with the revealed will of God found in scripture.
Revelation 13:1-4 describes the beast. Verses 5-8 now give us a picture of what the beast does, his activities.
When Revelation 12:14 says, the woman (referring to Israel) is given two wings of an eagle we are supposed to be reminded of Gods’ miraculous deliverance of Israel out of Egypt.
I think it really is O.K. not to try to answer the question of when this war arose. The point of the vision is not to identify the point in time when this happened, the point is to identify the great spiritual conflict between Satan and his angels, that is the demons and Michael who has a great military made up of angels.
Like so much of what we read in Revelation we are not to take matters literally but rather see these matters for what they are visions of a spiritual reality.
It should not strike the Christian as strange that right now there is a great and terrible warfare going on in the spiritual realms. It is an invisible war that is unseen to us. But that does not mean the effects of that war are unfelt or not being played out on our soil.
As we move forward we are filled with gratefulness for Theodore Epp a man whose faith in God’s provision kept pushing a daily audio teaching ministry as far as he could take it.
Theodore Epp throughout his life believed in two kinds of faith. Factual faith and appropriating faith. It is the difference between simply believing the facts of our faith to be true and applying or appropriating those facts personally to his life through faith.
Sin no longer has authority over you. I know that some of us have problems with that because that doesn’t seem to square with our experience. But you need a new way of thinking.
For all who have truly renounced their sins and have turned to Christ as their only hope of eternal life the Bible says that this is due to something marvelous that has happened to you. You have been born again.
In Theodore Epp’s day a great many Christians were asking the question, a question we should ask as well how can I know that I have genuinely experienced the new birth?
What a precious moment that was Philip invited Nathanael to come and see Jesus. And that is the story of Christmas. There comes a moment when Jesus actually confronts us. What is it that you want? And our answer will depend upon whether we spend time with him.
If you and I could ever get it into our heads that only Jesus deserves unquestioning loyalty, that we are not worthy to even untie His sandals, we are not worthy to even be mentioned next to Jesus and yet we have been invited to be called His brothers and sisters to be intimate with Him and to be His representative in this world we would learn to be content in following Him.

John 1:14-18 is written to help us see that never has the human race seen more grandeur or splendor then when the Word of God was born in human flesh.

Men of God, after all, are not noted for their accomplishments but they are noted as men who walk with God. That’s how they overcome discouragement and intimidation by others and a sense of aimlessness. It is this intimacy with God that drives them forward not a desire to make a name for themselves
Can you believe that the greatest work you can ever undertake as a man is simply to submit to God’s call rather than a work in which the crowds shout your praises? For if you want significance in the eyes of men you are an idolater.
A godly man will for the sake of Christ gladly abandon every earthly comfort take up his cross and follow his Lord unto death.
So what does it look like to be uniquely a man, to embrace God’s design and to use His design for His glory? Today we'll continue to discover the answer as we look at the example of Nehemiah.
I'm going to spend this series helping young boys and young men and perhaps older men as well celebrate godly manhood. In generations past, this would have been a very easy thing to do. We tended to know what godly and ungodly manhood was and wasn’t but today we have allowed those lines and those definitions to become blurred.

Our God is not a theological system or merely a matter of personal belief, we have a God who intervenes in the affairs of men. It means that it is possible for God to send His angels and shut lions mouths.
Daniel 6 introduces us to the well-known story of Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Daniel we are told was a man who was willing to stand alone. His choice to remain faithful to his God meant that he had no one standing with him. For all of you who have ever stood alone because of your commitment to Christ, this text is of great comfort and of encouragement.
The damned are ready to brush others aside without acknowledging what role they have been called to play by God. They are self-focused.
I ask you, will Canada exhaust the patience of God? Perhaps. I do know at what point in time God begins to right on the wall but that event comes to anyone and even to nations that will not repent. So we exhaust the patience of God when we no longer listen to his Word or his people.
Daniel’s words of counsel are for every king, every president, and every prime minister and every human being who has been given power. Use your power to bless the poor and the oppressed and the needy.
And there is the phrase the British papers used but if not or and if not. Regardless of how God decides to treat our situation whether it be miraculous deliverance or terrible suffering for us our gate is set. We are the people of God and would rather die as such than to be delivered from our present troubles and compromise our faith.
